  18. ZENON DTP - Cutting, Milling and Engraving under NEXTSTEP

  20. Schoenaich, Germany, April 25, 1994 - A powerful tool for all
  21. persons whose business has to do with the engraving or cutting of
  22. all kind of signs and advertisement boards has been presented
  23. recently by VHF Computer. ZENON allows the import of PostScript,
  24. Adobe Illustrator, HPGL and DXF files from DTP or CAD applications
  25. and their processing on common routing plotters, which is completely
  26. new on the NEXTSTEP platform.

  28. Frank Benzinger, sales manager of VHF Computer, stated on the
  29. occasion of the world's biggest industrial fair (Hannover, Germany)
  30. that "ZENON's concept of combining CAM machines with the possibilities
  31. of NEXTSTEP applications is revolutionary". Furthermore he underlined
  32. that ZENON's operation is very easy to learn and this allows even
  33. non-specialists to handle CAM machines in a very short time.
  34. And indeed, after reading one of the file types mentioned above
  35. ZENON displays it in a preview window. For each color of such a
  36. document a different tool may be selected which makes it possible
  37. to process workpieces in several steps. All parameters required
  38. for this (workpiece origin, feeding speed, tool data etc.) are easy
  39. to set in clearly laid out dialog boxes.

  41. ZENON offers a wide scope of possibilities especially for advertising
  42. companies and engraving studios. However, ZENON is not only good
  43. for sign production or personal engraving of promotional gifts. It
  44. helps in prototyping or mini-series production of front plates or
  45. housing parts, too.

  47. The most common application of ZENON surely is in engraving signs
  48. of all kinds. With the simple processing of traditional materials
  49. like plastics, metals and laminates signs from small nameplates to
  50. large advertisement boards may be produced quickly and efficiently.
  51. On top of that, the radius correction for the cutter extends ZENON's
  52. functionality by adding outline cutting of labels, graphics, logos
  53. etc. Moreover, inlaying where workpieces have to be cut precisely
  54. to fit into each other has become quite easy now.
